Aparator is a private family hub. We take your family's privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it's protected. We will never sell your data to third parties.
Your name, email address, and profile photo when you create an account.
Text messages, photos, and documents shared in family chats. These are stored to deliver them to your family members and for AI summaries.
Events, reminders, and plans you create within the app.
Photos you upload to the family Moments feed. These are stored in a private bucket accessible only to your family.
Files you upload to the family Doc Hub. Stored securely and only accessible to your family.
When you use Aparator's family money features, we store the shared expenses, money requests, and bills you create — including amounts, descriptions, reasons, due dates, categories, and which family member is involved. When you mark something as settled, we record the method you chose (such as "Venmo" or "Cash") as a label only. We do not collect or store payment credentials, card numbers, or bank account details, and Aparator does not move, hold, or transfer money — any actual payments happen outside the app, in the payment app you choose.
Aggregate usage metrics (feature counts, not content) to help us improve the app. No personal content is used in analytics.
Location sharing is off until you turn it on. We do not collect your position unless you have switched sharing on and agreed to it in the app — your device's own permission prompt is not enough on its own.
When sharing is on, we hold your current position only. Each update replaces the last one; we do not keep a history of where you have been.
Your position is visible to the members of your family, and to no one else.
You can turn it off at any time, from Settings. Turning it off stops the collection immediately and deletes your position — you disappear from your family's map.
In an emergency, when you use the SOS feature, your location is shared with your family so they can help you. This happens whether or not sharing is switched on, because that is the purpose of the feature.
We keep your family's information for as long as your account exists. A shared calendar that forgets last year isn't much use, so we don't delete your content on a timer.
Two things are shorter. Location is current-position-only and is deleted the moment you turn sharing off. Read notifications are removed after 60 days.
When you delete your account, we delete your personal information and your uploaded files. If you were the last member of a family, that family's calendar, photographs, documents and messages are deleted with it. If other members remain, the family's shared content stays with them, and your name is removed from the things you created.
Your uploaded files — photographs and documents — are deleted outright and are not held in our backups. Database records are removed from our live systems immediately, and may persist in our encrypted daily backups for up to seven days, after which those backups expire.
All data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security (RLS) enforced at the database level — only family members can access family data.
All connections are encrypted in transit (TLS). Files are stored in private buckets with signed URLs.
Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with industry-standard security practices.
Aparator uses a small number of service providers to operate. Each acts on our instructions under a data processing agreement, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes.
Supabase hosts our database, authentication and file storage. Everything your family stores in Aparator — your calendar, plans, messages, photographs, documents and location — is held there.
Vercel hosts and serves the application itself, and receives the technical information that comes with any web request, such as your IP address and browser type.
Anthropic provides the AI that powers Myla. When you use her, the relevant parts of your family's information are sent for processing — your message, and the calendar, plan or document context needed to answer it. When you use the scam scanner, the text or image you submit is sent for analysis.
Each of these providers maintains its own list of sub-processors, which we review.
Where your data is held. Our infrastructure is located in the United States (US East). If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Israel, this means your data is transferred outside your country for processing. These transfers are covered by the standard safeguards our providers maintain for international transfers.
You have the right to:
Aparator is designed to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law (5741-1981).
The legal basis for processing your data is your consent (provided when you create an account) and the legitimate interest of providing the family hub service.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
Aparator accounts are for people aged 16 and over. We ask for your date of birth when you create an account and do not create accounts for anyone below that age.
Children can still be part of a family in Aparator. An adult account holder can add them as a family profile — a name on the calendar, in plans and in photographs — which has no login, no password, no device and no location. All of that information is entered by the adult, not collected from the child.
If you enter information about another person, including a child, you are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of what you enter. You can view, change or delete it at any time from your own account.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at support@aparator.app and we will remove it.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
